Ruth Bright

My story so far…

Ruth Bright, originally from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, is a collaborative pianist based in Cheyenne, WY. She enjoys a varied career that encompasses performing as a recitalist, choir directing and accompanying for groups small and large, vocal coaching, music directing for religious organizations, and serving as a church pianist. At home as both soloist and collaborator, she has performed with members of the Baltimore, Maryland, and National Symphony, in venues including local embassies and universities. A dedicated teacher for more than ten years, Ruth maintains a studio of students of all ages and abilities.

Ruth studied with Rita Sloan at the University of Maryland (UMD) School of Music, completing her Masters of Music in Collaborative Piano in 2018, with post-graduate studies extending through the Spring of 2019. In 2015, she completed her studies with Bradford Gowen, earning her Bachelors of Music in piano performance from UMD. In conjunction with her collaborative studies and performances with faculty, graduate, and undergraduate musicians at UMD, she was employed as a Graduate Assistant within the UMD School of Music Admissions Department for four years. She is a founding member of OperaTerps, and ended her tenure serving as Artistic Director of this pioneer UMD undergraduate opera company in the Spring of 2018.

She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the Wyoming Music Teacher’s Association (WMTA), and the Cheyenne Music Teachers Association (CMTA). She currently serves as the WMTA President-Elect.
